Cassandra Abela is a new face in the Property Sales Consultant team but her cheerful personality has already become a staple in our Fgura branch. We had a chance to interview her to learn about her interests and background in property sales.

From the moment you meet the bubbly and vivacious Cassandra Abela, an estate agent at Frank Salt Real Estate Fgura branch, you are aware of her determination to build on her already long and successful career in real estate. Everything she does is tackled with vigour and a zest for life. She started out with the group in 2014, but then decided to apply her knowledge and expertise in the extremely competitive property market of Dubai. Having spent considerable time there as a very successful realtor for a large property group, she had to find a way to deal with the fast-paced life and all the pressures that comes with living and working in this glamorous desert kingdom, so she decided on the invitation of a friend to try her hand at wakeboarding, something she has become complete addicted to. She says it is an excellent physical way to combat stress through physical exercise and to reunite with the beauty that nature has to offer.

Cassandra returned to Malta and Frank Salt Real Estate after some years as she missed the relaxed pace of life and being near her family and friends. After a refresher course with Frank Salt Real Estate’s in-house training to reacquaint herself with the latest laws and legislation, she hit the ground running!

The legacy of Cassandra’s tenure in Dubai is her renewed love and awareness of the picture-perfect azure waters surrounding the Maltese Islands, one of the best places in the world for wakeboarding and all things aqua sport. We posed some Q&A’s to this young dynamo in order to get to know her better.

Q: Can you tell us briefly about your background and your family?

“ I am originally from Mosta which is where I spent most of my childhood, but both my parents are from Rabat, where we moved to after 20 years. I also have an older brother and although we are very different, we always watch each other’s back.”

Q: Tell us some cool facts about any hobbies or other stuff you enjoy doing in your free time?

“As said, I fell completely in love with wakeboarding when I was in Dubai. It was not easy at first but once I managed to get up and wake the waves, it was an amazing feeling! You literally feel like you are walking, well more like running, on water.

Q: And now fill us in on some details of your academic achievements and work experience!

“I have been working in sales for the past 10 years. The experience and knowledge have taught me how to deliver the best service to my clients and how to solve problems in ways and means that all parties are happy with the eventual outcome. I also have learned about and keep on educating myself regarding personal development but in addition keep up with the latest marketing and sales strategies and techniques to keep up with today’s demanding world. I recently also completed my Level 5 Diploma in Real Estate.”

Q: What attracted you to join the Frank Salt Team?

“I happened to bump into an ex-colleague of mine who moved from the company we used to work for to Frank Salt, so we decided to have a coffee. He told me about his experience with Frank Salt Real Estate and I was interested right away (I’ve always had a passion for property)… so I thought, why not? He kindly set up a meeting for me with the HR Manager and the rest is history!”

Q: Who is the most fascinating person you’ve met? Why?

“This is a very difficult question to answer because in my life I have met quite a few people who have left an impact in my life. To single out one is too big a challenge 😊.

Q: What do you enjoy most so far about your job?

“Meeting people! I love meeting people and although due to COVID this has been a bit of a challenge, today’s technology allows us to continue meeting new people online.

Q: What are you kind of obsessed with these days?

“Something I am always obsessed about is learning new things and how to do things better.”

Q: What would you do if you had enough money to not need a job?

“Travel the world and in the process help those people in need.

Q: What was the last show you binge-watched?

“The Blacklist”

Q: Among your friends, what are you best known for?

“This was tricky, so I asked! My manager said I am best known for my confidence, while my colleagues and friends said my pranks (I guess my manager said that because he is a victim in most of my pranks)!”

Q: What is the silliest of your fears? Why?

“Clowns! I have no idea, but they freak me out.

Q: What household chore is just the worst?

“Living on my own I have learned to do everything routinely, so I do not stress about it, however ironing is something I really hate doing … so I try to buy clothes which do not need it.”

Q: What advice will you give to someone who wants to become an estate agent?

“There is a lot I could say about this, but to put it in a few words, I would say: focus, work hard, achieve, and enjoy.”

Q: What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?

“The colour blue! To understand what I mean by this, let me explain: my manager and I were pranking one another, and I decided to put some food colouring into his coffee (by a bit, I mean half a bottle). I thought his teeth would be stained blue; but this had worse repercussions for him that lasted for about two weeks! It was at this point that he then decided to get back at me, so he put a clown photo on my desk, and he gave me a call on the office phone- which unbeknownst to me – he coated with blue ink. Back then my hair was blonde, but not for much longer… as it got stained with blue from the handset all over!”

Q: Who is your favourite designer?

“I have particular tastes and I am very selective regarding items. I am more finicky about the materials more than who the designer is.”

Q: What does the concept of Wellness encompass for you?

“A healthy and active lifestyle.”

Q: Do you have a tip for anyone on how to handle today’s stressful lifestyle?

“Planning. If you plan well, you will have more things under control and therefore less stress.”
